Hornbill festival of Nagaland, organized by Nagaland Tourism Tourism and Art & Culture Departments, showcases a mélange of cultural displays under one roof. The festival held between Dec 1 to 10 each year in Kohima. A model village built at Kisama, a western Angami location situated 12 kms away from Kohima. The festival aims to revive and protect the rich culture of Nagaland and display its extravaganza and traditions.
Hornbill festival offers a lot to the viewers. The visitors can enjoy traditional dances, songs and native games throughout the day. The other major attractions of the festival include Hornbill music festival and Hornbill National rock contest, Naga chilli eating competition, Hornbill motor rally, Miss Nagaland beauty pagent and Hornbill literature festival. The festival is also a paradise for the foodies, particularly if one happens to be a non- vegetarian because Nagas love to feast and feed. At the festival village one can try all kinds of Naga traditional foods and varities and also watch them being made during the Festival. Also the visitors can take part in various exciting contests such as Naga chilly eating, pork eating , traditional games and other traditional competitions.
