Munnar, truly a paradise in the earth is situated at Iddukki district in Kerala. Breathtakingly beautiful, this destination offers a lot to it’s visitors. It’s the place you would love to visit ­ it’s the place you would wish never to leave. The word comes a combination of two words in the regional language. ‘Munu’ means three and ‘Aru’ means river. That means the union of three rivers named Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. This tranquil destination is also known as the Kashmir of Kerala.
Munnar is a place known for its attractive tea estates and tea cultivation. Tea estates are the identity of this beautiful place. The places like Eravikulam National park, Kundala dam, Mattupetty dam, Tea museum and top station are the main attractions offedred by Munnar. The Eravikulam national park is also famous for its Neelakurinji population. The ‘cattle village’ at Mattupetty makes the land the abode of nature.
Neelakurinji or Strobilanthus,  the flower which blooms once in twelve years attracts tourists from all over the world.
All major places like Cochin, Kottayam, Trivandrum, Trichur, Palakkad, Madurai and Coimbatore are connected with government and private bus services . Kerala and Tamilnadu transport corporations operate bus services frequently to all important places.  Taxi cars and Auto-rickshaws easily available  for pick-up, dropping and for sight seeing.You can also get bicycle for rent at DTPC Information centre Old Munnar.
