Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually dedicated to Lord Shiva. Chanting Om Namah Shivaya”, the sacred mantra of Shiva, is the main ritual of this festival. There will be special poojas, other important rituals and traditional cultural programmes at Shiva temples on that auspicious day. The ardent devotees keep awake all night and chant prayers to atain blessings from Lord Shiva. The major Shiva temples of India celebrates Shivarathri with great devotion and harmony.
Varanasi, Somanatha,Rudreshwara Swamy’s 1000 pillar temple in Warangal, Srikalahasti, Mahanandi, Yaganti, Antarvedi, Kattamanchi, Vemulawada, Panagal, Pattiseema, Bhairavakona, Hanmakonda, Keesaragutta, Kolanupaka are some of the important temples known for Shivarathri celebrations.
