The statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel (the Statue of Unity) is an engineering marvel situated near  the Narmada Dam in Gujarat. The statue adorns the recognition of world’s  tallest statue. The 182-metre Statue of Unity completed in a record time of 33 months. The inauguration will be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi  at a gala function on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on 31 October, in Gujrat.

  • Built by Larsen & Toubro Ltd

  • The total cost is 2,989 crore

  • Made up of 1,700 tonnes of bronze and 1,850 tonnes of bronze covering on the exterior.

  • The interior is filled with concrete cement – 180,000 cubic metres, reinforced steel – 18,500 tonnes , structured steel – 6,500 tonnes.

  • A bridge of 320-metre connects Sadhu island to the mainland.

  • The statue was designed by famous Indian Sculptor Ram V Suter
