According to the Malayalam Calendar, this amazing festival falls on 20th of ‘Meenam’.  Vallanghy and Nemmara desoms are the participants of the festival. The Vela attracts thousands of people every year. Caparisoned elephant Parade, PanchavadyamPandi Melam, performances of  cultural arts forms of Kerala are the major attractions of the Vela celebration. ‘Anapanthal’, using bamboo and wood by two desoms add more beauty to the Vela celebration.
